C. T. American Art Series 73280 Home of Marblehead Historical Society 19 Lee Mansion, Built 1768, Marblehead, Mass. Lee Mansion. The stately mansion on Washington Street, nearly opposite Mason Street, was built in 1768, and occupied by Col. Jeremiah Lee, a wealthy merchant. It was one of the largest and most costly in the colony, built of materials brought from England. Here Washington was entertained on the occasion of his memorable visit to Marblehead. Lafayette was here twice an honored guest, and Andrew Jackson was s visitor and here tendered a notable reception. The Lee Mansion is now owned and occupied by the Marblehead Historical Society Richard W. Cook
