  Title:
Rock On Which J. H. Kagi Was Killed
Divided Back unused

Description:
This building is a pulp mill, and is on the site of the Hall rifle Works, one of the Government shops in 1859. This was one of the strategic points selected by Brown in his attack on harpers Ferry, and was held by John H. Kari, the right-hand man of Brown, and two others under his command. When this point was rendered untenable by the neighboring militia, Kagi attempted to escape by wading across the Shenandoah, which is quite shallow here, and was shot down upon the prominent rock shown in the picture."
