Description:
The stamped to the Klondike Gold Fields began in 1897. Construction of the white pass narrow gauge railway was started in April. 1898 and completed from Skagway through to Whitehorse in July, 1900. Average grade from Skagway to the sumnir of White Pass is 2.6 per cent; maximum 3.9 percent. Today the White Pass serves the Yukon year round with passenger and freight service.
