Founded in 1862 at the request of King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma. The cathedral cornerstone was laid in 1867 by Kamehameha V. The finished structure, dedicated in 1958, with its Great West Window and Fountain, is Honolulu's only example of early French Gothic architecture and is rich in art, history and Hawaiiana.
