Description:
With the Unite States increasingly the target of terrorists overseas, the inevitable protective steps were taken at home. This Thanksgiving Week photo shows the interim method of barricading: heavy trucks and equipment blocking off streets at the White House, State Department, Capitol Building and the Pentagon. Soon 3 foot high cement barriers were erected around the White House. The U.S. anti-terrorist planners take sensible precautions without turning Government buildings into fortresses; for, as they fully realize, no such defensive measures will stop a determined terrorist bent on selfdestruction.
