Description:
This one of a kind sodium-cooled test reactor is being constructed 7 miles north of Richland, Washington, on the Hanford Project. When operational in 1979 it will test fuels, materials and components for breeder reactors - an advanced type of nuclear power plant. Westinghouse Hanford Company, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Corporation, is under contract to the Energy research and Development Administration for design, construction and operation of this Facility.
