Description:
Founded 1670, the present edifice is the third building, erected 1835-8. Corinthian columns after the style of St. Martin's in the field, London, dominate this beautiful interior. The arches, springing longitudinally from the square of cornice above each column, rise at their crown to a level of 36 feet and are adorned with cherub's head and wings in stucco; and between the shoulders of the acanthus ornamentation. Altar silver, some older than the discovery of America, is used in the church on special occasions.
