Congress Street is the principal and longest thoroughfare in Portland. It extends from one extreme to the other, and is laid out with several square and parks. Including Longfellow, Congress and Monument Squares and Lincoln Park. On it are located the old Longfellow Mansion, and the home of the late Neal Dow, besides may line retail houses, halls, churches, hotels, the public library, and City Hall.
