| St. Catharines, Ontario: In April, 1959, traffic began using the St. Lawrence Seaway, The seaway, in the broadest sense is a huge water-way extending 2,300 miles from the Atlantic Ocean to the head of the Great Lakes in the heart of North America. The photo shows the ocean going vessel Harpefjell coming through the lift bridge by the Garden City Skyway prior to entering Lock 3 of the Welland Canal section of the St. Lawrence Seaway. |
