Kenmore, was built in 1752, by the Patriot Colonel Fielding Lewis, for his bride, Betty Washington only sister of George Washington. The charm of Kenmore lies in its beauty and simplicity, backed by years of tradition. The house-and furnishings are considered by authorities, as being the best in the country. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. Visitors are served tea and gingerbread made from Mary Washington's own recipe, by Mammy in the old Kenmore Kitchen. Open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 1 to Mar. 31, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 1 to October 31.
