Description:
Blackboard (Edward Teach) English pirate who cruised along Spanish Main, among Bahamas and north to the Carolinas. In a captured French Merchantman equipped with 40 guns, he preyed on shipping off Carolina and Virginia Coast. Killed November 22, 1718 in an attack by two naval sloops sent by the Governor of Virginia.
