| In this Airship Melvin Vaniman, his brother Charles and three companions ascended at Atlantic City, N.J. on July 2, 1912 to start their second attempt at a Trans-Atlantic crossing. The Airship Exploded at 500 feet in full view of thousands of spectators. The five men fell to their deaths. |
