1 � miles East of El Tovar Hotel. In the foreground of this picture is the plateau, the edge of which, at this point, forms the Turtle Head. The plateau is approximately on the same level as the Indian Gardens, 3,180 feet below the rim. This elevation is also the Tonto platform or the roof of the granite gorge, 1,300 feet above the Colorado River.
